The project starts

“Fond · Vopis · Sprava” is out of beta. Search across all archives, the pages of fonds, inventories and files, and everything taken from open sources stay free for good.

Over the past week 47,500 new files of the National Historical Archives of Belarus appeared in the catalogue: 44,300 from the inventories of NIAB in Hrodna and 3,200 from NIAB in Minsk. We extracted them from the archive's inventories ourselves, so for their first 30 days they are visible on the Researcher plan, and they open to everyone on 29–30 October. In all, the catalogue holds 313,000 files from 20 archives.

The new Researcher plan costs €5 a month or €20 a year. It gives early access — files we extract from archive inventories ourselves are visible on it 30 days before they open to everyone — and any number of saved searches and collections with a daily e-mail about new and digitised files. A subscription also supports the project: hosting and the computing power for text recognition cost money. More about the plan

Everyone who signed up before 4 October gets a month of the Researcher plan as a gift. It starts with your first visit, so if you have not been back yet, no days are lost.

You can also earn the plan without paying: 1 day for every corrected title of a machine-read file, 1 day for answering whether a file from a foreign archive concerns Belarus, and 3 days for telling us what a file you worked with contains. How to get the plan without paying
